LOCK DOWN

Today we cannot debate, "Is Lock Down boon or bane?" May be, we have invited it. But, presently  it is the compulsion of this planet.Lockdowns have restricted our movements, suspended rail, road, sea and air service, and shut down factories, shopping malls, super markets, cinema halls, courts, offices, schools ,colleges and universities.
In short, they have brought the world to a standstill.                                                                  Still,we, the dwellers of this planet feel that while the new covid 19 attempts to suck the 'breath' out of the human lungs , the lockdowns  have breathed new life into Mother Earth -- literally.                                                                                                                                      The  lockdowns have shown the improvements to air quality as emissions are reduced on a global scale. It is the obvious consequence of the drastic reduction in carbon emissions from vehicular movements. All the hustle and bustle of our neighbourhood has astonishingly disappeared. It feels like everything around is uttering - Hear the silence ,it is telling something to you . Mother earth seems to have rejuvenated itself – we are witnessing the blue skies and  have  suddenly a rare, piercing blue., marine life has increased activity, pollution levels have dropped, and animals as well as birds are moving about on their own accord with their louder twits. The imagery shows signs of nature scoring a victory. The blissful sight and the joy of breathing clean air provides just the contrast to illustrate what we are doing to ourselves and nature the rest of the time.

Unfortunately, this is a partial picture of Lock down because words cannot express, how our  lives and livelihoods are suffering.

But, in the thick of all the gloom and doom, there is a silver lining. We should all be optimistic and say - These are really bad days, but the life is good..

  1. A lesson, of course. We have to look at the world in a new out look. Excessive greed must be controlled. Otherwise man may disappear from this planet which we love so much.
