TRAVELLING AS A PART OF EDUCATION
“A home keeping youth has homely wits”
says Shakespeare. Really speaking a youth who has never moved out of his
village or town or city, he is like a proverbial frog in the well. But the
moment one steps out and come in contact with the outer world knows the manners, customs, ritual, traits and
languages. One can realise his limitations. It also gives pleasure and has
charm and nobility. The educative value of travelling is immense. It gives
opportunity to observe the wonders of creation and our study of all the subject
remain almost incomplete until we see with our own eyes. Travelling satisfy the
curiosity that is developed from education. It also enhances courage, self-
confidence and breaks the monotony. It is for this, Tagore has said,’In
education reading and seeing must be combined. One of the means of learning by
seeing is evidently travelling.” [143 words]
